  • What's It All About?

    Conveyancing is the transfer of the legal title of a piece of land or property which often includes a domestic dwelling and can be with or without a mortgage.

    The usual steps in a conveyancing sale transaction are:

    1. marketing the property (with or without estate agents) 

    2. accepting an agreed price from a buyer

    3. solicitor for seller issues draft contract and pack to buyers solicitor

    4. buyers carry out survey and buyers solicitor arranges property searches and raises legal enquiries

    5. parties sign the contract and transfer when all due diligence has been completed and agree/propose timescale

    6. contracts are exchanged say on 1st of March with completion to take place on 14th of March - the sale is legally binding

    7. completion takes place on the 14th of March
